SAUL RAMIREZ
Artist, Poet, Art Historian
Saul Ramirez received their BFA in Studio Art and their BA in Art History at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and is currently working on their MFA in Painting at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. They begun their undergrad studying physics and astronomy and much of their work explores multidisciplinary methods mixing science, history poetry, primarily under the context of painting. Saul’s work primarily explores themes of intimacy, family, and spirituality through explorations of color, language and myth woven out of objects, ideas, and stories from the past, their practice at times taking the shape of civic work and social practice. In Saul’s practice, art serves as a tool for deepening the relationship between queerness, homemaking, and memory in the hope of transforming their art into an investment in community.
