Making a Living is my contribution to this anthology. The chapter is a poetic essay that reassesses my undergraduate work at NMSU, diving into the layers of institutional history, economics and erasure that has haunted my life and work in the Southwest.
It is both a document of my BFA show as well as a research project on the history of the building which housed it and on the relationship to the land which this reflected. This work served as an introduction of memory work as a form of civic history in my practice.
